7 Habits of Excellence: Habit #2 Declutter your way to success

I'm continuing on with our excellence habits! Incase you missed the first posts I'll link them here so you don't have to go digging around (that's a pain)...

Before you read this post - pause and go back to make sure you read this one first

then this one (don't worry, they are short but very important) BLOG HABIT #1

OK, now you are ready for Habit #2 - Let's get started: Unleash Your Inner Sparkle!! Do you like that? it's my NEW SLOGAN!!! It really does represent my brand and what I stand for - I hope you like it too!

So let's talk about Habit #2 - Sparkle big baby! - Where you are is not where you are supposed to stay. God has something bigger for your life and your assignment!

Before we can see increase on the OUTSIDE we must see increase on the INSIDE! The Bible says, "I pray the eyes of your heart may be enlightened....Enlightened means to shed light upon, to teach, and to expand in knowledge and wisdom. For example, if you are the smartest one in your group, you might need a new group! If everyone around you thinks you're the coolest, the wisest, the wealthiest, the most successful, then you're in the wrong company (these are not my words, these are words from the most successful people in the world) - You just aren't growing if you're always teaching. You need to be around people who make you feel challenged, awkward, uncomfortable, and uneasy. Those are signs you are being stretched...you're growing!

Get around people who make more money than you, who have a nicer, bigger, more organized home than you.

Hang out with people who keep their cars clean and their bodies fit.

Go to lunch with people who eat healthier than you and budget their finances wiser than you. Learn from those who are doing more than you.

It stretches you to the next level. It prepares you for growth in your own life. Following people who are proving success causes you to rise higher!

When you expose yourself to greatness it causes you to rise higher, put greater demands on yourself, set higher standards for your life and truly distinguish yourself.

The reason people watch certain shows (cough cough Jerry Springer) is because after watching that debacle, you look at your own life and think " well, i'm not doing so bad after all. I'm actually doing pretty good." Well, yeah, compared to that mess lol!!

But you have a higher standard.

God is preparing you for excellence not mediocrity. He has an assignment on your life and it demands a new normal for you. You are not like everyone else. You are being groomed for greatness.

Not sure how to hang out with people of significance? Read their books! That's how I started and still do to this day. This single habit has brought more increase and promotion to my life than I can even articulate! Honestly and I never used to read - lol How silly was I?

The more I began to practice this each day, the more I began to crave wisdom and knowledge.

Do you know what you will most likely find by a wealthy person's nightstand? BOOKS!

James Allen said, "People are anxious to improve their circumstances but they're not anxious to improve themselves, they, therefore remain bound."

What did you do last year to grow?

How many books did you read?

How many hours did you invest in yourself?

How many seminars or conferences did you attend?

What did you learn?

What were you exposed to?

Set some new goals for yourself to read a certain number of books each year. I determined years ago to read at least 12 books a year (one per month).

ACTION STEP: Choose 12 books to read over the next 12 months!

Tag me in the one's your choose and please share with me what you learned and how this simple habit changes the direction of your life! If you need a list of my favorites, email me - I am always happy to share: heathernewmanfitness@gmail.com
