Navigating STUBBORN MIDDLE AGED lady belly fat : it's a journey! | Heather Newman Fitness


AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That's a freaking scream right there! THIS FREAKING BELLY FAT!!! If you've hit a stage in your life where you are peri-menopause, pre-menopause, menopause symptoms, etc. You are in the right spot. Be sure to subscribe because this journey will be unfolding - it's not going to fit in one post and I'm still on this journey with you.

What used to work - DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!


Everybody's body responds to different things, in different ways. Some people BULK UP doing certain types of exercise routines, etc. And food can affect us all different!

IT'S TIME TO MOVE THE NEEDLE - but it's so aggravating to figure out HOW!


supplements + diet + exercise is the formula!!! Now, what will you use to fill in the blanks??


NOT ONE THING WILL WORK FOR EVERYONE!!!! I know this, I've been on this journey for a long time now and I've worked with plenty of other women who are frustrated beyond belief.

It's going to take some trial and error. It's going to take some journaling and really focussing on YOU and listening to your body.


The first step is getting a good clear BASE LINE of where you are! I'm serious.

Your baseline will be as follows:


  1. WHAT ARE YOU PUTTING IN YOUR BODY? What time of day, how much, what's in it? everything - and I mean everything needs to be journaled for a good solid 3-days to see where your habits are TODAY. I'm not saying they are wrong or bad. I'm just saying - STOP FOR A MOMENT AND ASSESS YOU. Dial into what you are putting into your body! So step #1 - journal your habits in eating for 3 full days. Don't miss a thing. Time, amount, what it is, and what is actually in it. If you cook chicken, what seasonings...I mean down to the nitty gritty. You've got to have a BASELINE - your own homework.

  2. STEP ON THE SCALE: don't be afraid....it's part of your STEP ONE baseline assessment. Journal that number and the date. What time did you do this and what were you wearing? Write it all down.

  3. Photos - yes! You have to take them. Front, R side, L side and back. Do your best using a mirror. Keep them in your phone and journal the date, time, place etc. IT'S FOR YOU! You'll thank me later.

  4. MEASURE: Yes, you have to know these numbers before you start to make any changes so you can see if the needle is even moving! Hips, arms, thighs, waist, chest, all of it. Measure it and right it all down. Left and right side is slightly different usually!

  5. After your full self assessment has been completed...it's time to get our game plan in place. What are you willing to change? What are you willing to try that you've never tried before? How long will you commit to it? Personally, I would go for it for 21-days straight and RE-ASSESS. See if the needle is moving or not - if yes, keep going. If no, let's RE-ASSESS and change something else to move the path you take.

  6. REPEAT STEPS 1-5 UNTIL YOU SEE THE NEEDLE MOVING.
