why i'm not freaking out about high cholesterol — and you shouldn't either
Somewhere along the line, we were taught that cholesterol = death sentence. If your bloodwork came back with anything even close to "high," you were almost instantly prescribed meds, handed a fear-based pamphlet, and sent on your way.
Here’s the truth:Cholesterol is not the villain.
In fact, new research is showing that it’s not about how high your cholesterol is — it’s about what’s happening inside your body overall.
✨ It’s about your ratios — LDL, HDL, and triglycerides.
✨ It’s about your inflammation levels.
✨ It’s about metabolic health, not just a single scary number on a lab sheet.
If your HDL ("good" cholesterol) is strong,
If your LDL particle size is the large, fluffy kind (not the small, dense kind),
If your triglycerides are low and healthy...you're in a very different (and much safer) category than the fear-mongering headlines would have you believe.
Here’s what matters more than "high cholesterol" alone:
A healthy triglyceride-to-HDL ratio (generally, 2:1 or better)
Low inflammation markers (like CRP)
Strong insulin sensitivity (steady blood sugar)
An active, nutrient-dense lifestyle
Bottom line: I’m not here to give you medical advice — but I am here to say:
👉 Don't let one outdated narrative control your life.
👉 Get the full picture.
Ask better questions.
Look deeper.
If you have a great LDL/HDL ratio and your triglycerides are in a healthy range, there’s a good chance you’re doing way better than you’ve been told.
Don’t panic.
Get educated.
Advocate for yourself.
Own your health.
